Eric says he loves the feeling of accomplishment he gets when he catches a fish.
Clearwater, Florida -- It's never a bad day when you can get in some fishing time.
Eric is at Pier 60 at Clearwater Beach.
It's a very windy day but the fish are biting.
In a matter of minutes after casting his line, Eric is reeling in his first catch of the day. It's a pinfish.
Eric is a 14-year-old who discovered fishing just a short time ago.
He tells me he likes it because when you get one on the line it gives you a sense of accomplishment.
We talk about several things while waiting for more fish to bite. I am floored by how open and honest Eric's answers are to all of my questions.
When I asked him how he would describe himself Eric says he's very shy. Then I asked him why he was so shy. His answer broke my heart.
Eric says his mom abandoned him as a baby and it's hard for him to reach out to others since he can't reach out to his mom.
What's even more surprising is Eric has not let his past determine his future. He feels sure his forever family is somewhere out there.
