UPDATE: The Tornado Warning has expired at 1:30.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota counties until 1:30 p.m.

At 12:39, NWS doppler radar indicated a tornado near Fruitville, eight miles east of Sarasota, moving northeast at 40 mph.

The tornado will be near Lakewood Ranch, Fruitville, Parrish, Duette, Little Manatee River State Park, Wimauma and Sun City Center. This includes between I-75 between exits 210 and 240.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the Bay area until 10 p.m. tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

Remember, as waterspouts move ashore they become tornadoes and should be considered extremely dangerous.

If you are in the path of the tornado, go to a small interior room in a strong and well constructed building. Cars and mobile homes are not safe. If no shelter is available, lie flat in a ditch or culvert and cover your head with your hands.
