Forecast: Freeze Warnings For Citrus; Hernando

A cold Canadian air mass has descended upon the Sunshine State urging freeze warnings for the Nature Coast from 3am until 8am on Friday morning.  Temps are expected to drop below freezing for normally cold locations away from the coast in Citrus and Hernando Counties.  It is important to bring pets inside and cover any sensitive vegetation.  For the Tampa Bay metro area overnight lows will drop to the low 40's.  Coastal southern zones will see readings mainly in the mid to upper 40's.

On Friday our temps will begin to moderate as winds shift to the east by the afternoon.  We will see mostly sunny skies with a high temp of 70 degrees.  Changes will come again on Saturday as our next cold front approaches.  There will be a 60% chance of showers and storms between 8am and 2am.

Overnight Mostly clear, with a low around 42. Light northwest winds.

Friday Sunny, with a high near 70. Wind chill values as low as 40 early. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Friday Night A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8am and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. South wind 10 to 16 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night  A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
