After some heavy downpours along the coast this morning, showers are shifting to the east and Tampa this afternoon.  There will still be a few storms this afternoon along the coast, but the best chance for rain will run from Sarasota northeastward toward northern Polk County.

A frontal boundary is slowly approaching our area from the eastern Gulf and will eventually stall across the area by tomorrow.  This will linger in the area through much of this week before finally pushing through as a cold front early Sunday.  As a result, we will see an unsettled week with on and off heavy downpours.  The rain chances will be highest along the coast in the morning and overnight, while inland locations will see their best chances for rain mainly each afternoon.

Winds will blow generally out of the S-SW until they turn to the N Sunday morning.  That will finally bring some drier and cooler air to the region.

Today: Partly cloudy skies turn mostly cloudy with scattered, brief, heavy downpours moving across the area.  Winds will be S-SSW 10-20 mph with a high of 87.

Tonight: More scattered showers, especially along the coast and after midnight.  Winds S 10 mph with a low of 76.
