Roberta Vinci, the No. 15 seed, discarded Stephanie Foretz Gacon by a 6-3, 6-0 margin and 20th-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro beat Simona Halep of Romania 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

In other action on Day 2, Zuzana Kucova of Slovakia took down 24th-seeded German Julia Goerges, 7-6 (10-8), 6-0, and Johanna Larsson of Sweden defeated Monica Niculescu of Romania by a 6-2, 6-3 score.
