Bangkok, Thailand (Sports Network) - In Monday's lone main-draw match at the Thailand Open, German Philipp Petzschner trounced Thai wild card Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattan 6-1, 6-2 on the hardcourts at Impact Arena.

Seeded players Fernando Verdasco of Spain, Viktor Troicki, Jarkko Nieminen and Aussie Bernard Tomic will be among those seeing first-round action on Tuesday. The Serbian Troicki was a runner-up here in 2009, while the Finnish Nieminen was a runner-up in 2010.

British star Andy Murray, who is not defending his title this week, whipped American Donald Young in last year's Thailand Open finale. Young is also on Tuesday's schedule in Bangkok.

The 2012 winner of this $551,000 event will collect $99,465.
