St. Petersburg, Fl. - The Rays are in need of reinforcements as the club looks to stay in contention in the AL East. And the player they are looking at as a possible solution: Pedro Martinez.
A Tampa Bay Rays official confirmed Thursday the club had one of its Dominican representatives on hand for a workout with the former All-Star pitcher. That official could not confirm if another follow up workout was scheduled or what the interest level in Martinez is.
The story was first reported by Dominician paper, Listin Diario.
The 17-year veteran last played for the New York Mets where he had four injury plagued seasons.
