Lightning make six draft selections

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning made six picks and acquired forward Benoit Pouliot from the Boston Bruins during the second day of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

With the 40th overall selection in the second round, the Lightning drafted defenseman Dylan Blujus from the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League. The 6-foot-3, 193-pound, defenseman played in 66 games last season, recording seven goals and 34 points to go along with 38 penalty minutes.

With the 53rd overall pick in the second round, Tampa Bay tabbed forward Brian Hart from Phillips-Exeter High School. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound, forward played in 29 games with Exeter, recording 32 goals and 68 points.

In the third round, the Lightning selected forward Tanner Richard with the 71st overall pick in the draft. The Markham, Ontario native played in 43 games with the Guelph Storm of the OHL, posting 13 goals and 48 points to go along with 46 penalty minutes.

With the 101st overall selection in the fourth round, the Bolts drafted forward Cedric Paquette from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Gaspe, Quebec native played in 63 games with Blainville-Boisbriand, collecting 31 goals and 48 points to go along with 88 penalty minutes.

Tampa Bay selected defenseman Jake Dotchin from the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL with their 161st overall pick in the sixth round. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound defenseman played in 64 games with the Attack last season, recording three goals and 19 points to go along with 77 penalty minutes.



With their final pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, 202nd overall, the Lightning selected forward Nikita Gusev of the CSKA Moscow in the KHL. The Moscow, Russia native played in 15 games with CSKA, recording two goals and three points.

Earlier on Saturday, the Lightning acquired forward Benoit Pouliot from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Michel Ouellet and Tampa Bay's fifth round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Pouliot played in 74 games with the Bruins last season, recording 16 goals and 32 points.
