Tampa, Florida -- Following a season that produced just four wins, most Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans said they finally had something to celebrate Monday after head coach Greg Schiano and general manager Mark Dominik were fired.

"I'm ecstatic they fired (Schiano), but it was a year too late," said one caller on 98.7 The Fan moments after the firings were announced.

"I'm happy. I might call out of work today and celebrate," added another caller to the radio station just before noon today.

The firings were also discussed by the lunchtime crowd at the Press Box on Dale Mabry as televisions tuned to ESPN broadcast the day's developments in the background.

"I think it's a good move, make a whole clean sweep. I just hope they have somebody lined up ready to go get started," said Karl Canestrano.

"We hired a guy that was head coach at Rutgers. I mean, he's never even coached at a BCS bowl, so the fact that he won as many games as he did is kind of surprising," Kent Howard said as he played Monday morning quarterback over the Bucs' decision to originally hire Schiano.

Statistically, Schiano will not go down as the worst coach in team history. His 2-year record of 11-21 leaves him with the Bucs' fifth highest winning percentage. But a winning percentage of 344 in football does not guarantee job security.

So for the third time in four years, the Bucs begin the off season both out of the playoffs and searching for a new head coach. Which is just fine for some fans of the pewter and gold.

"It's the first time this year I've been proud to put on my Bucs shirt," proclaimed 98.7 The Fan's Justin Pawlowski as he put on a shirt with a Bucs logo printed on the front. "Good things are ahead for this franchise."
