Tampa, Florida -- The Bucs won their first game of the season, after 8 losses, 22-19 over the Miami Dolphins.

The Bucs were down to their third and fourth string running backs, after Mike James left the game early in the 1st quarter, with an ankle injury.  But fourth-teamer Bobby Rainey scored the winning touchdown, with 10:21 to go in the game.

The Dolphins took the lead late in the 3rd quarter, on a Ryan Tannehill-Rishard Matthews TD connection from 19 yards out, good for a 16-15 lead.  A Caleb Sturges field goal made it 19-15.

But in the 4th, Bobby Rainey led a drive that culminated in a 1-yard touchdown run, and a 22-19 lead.

On the last Dolphins' possession, the Bucs' defense came up with a Da'Quan Bowers sack on 1st down... a Gerald McCoy sack on 2nd down... and a Darrelle Revis interception on 4th down.  The defense held the Dolphins to a total of 2 yards rushing...

The 2nd quarter began with special teams downing a Dolphin punt at the 2-yard line. Two plays later, Lavonte David tackled RB Daniel Thomas in the end zone for a safety, and a 12-0 Bucs' lead.

Rian Lindell booted a 35-yard field, to put the Bucs in front 15-0, with 9:01 left in the half.

The Dolphins got on the board, with a 90-yard drive just before the half. Ryan Tannehill hit Rishard Matthews with a 6-yard TD pass, to make it a 15-7 game at the half.

In front of a sell out crowd at Raymond James Stadium, and with a national audience watching on Monday Night Football, the Bucs posted their best first quarter of the season against the Dolphins.

On the opening posession of the game, Tampa Bay drove the ball 76-yards on 9 plays, capping off the drive with a Mike Glennon touchdown pass to Donald Penn. The scoring drive was the first of the season for the Buccaneers on their first possession of a game.

On that initial drive, the Bucs lost running back Mike James to an ankle injury inside the Miami 5-yard line. James will miss the rest of the game.

The very next Tampa Bay offensive possession saw the home team cap off a 6-play 24-yard drive with a Rian Lindell field goal, giving the Bucs a 10-0 lead heading in to the second quarter.
