Hello, Joe Bucs Fan! One more to go in this preseason, and everyone will be happy when this one is over and we can start talking about the regular season.
What to look for against the Redskins? If it's the starters you want, don't hold your breath, they won't play, much like the rest of the preseason.
So, this will be the last chance for several players on the roster, guys on the bubble.
Running back, behind Doug Martin ... who's it going to be? Brian Leonard, Mike James, Peyton Hillis ... will the Bucs keep all 3? Doubtful. Leonard has the lead, James has most upside. Hillis is probably out, but Schiano could fool us.
I'm not too worried about the tight ends. That position just doesn't figure in Mike Sullivan's offense. It's not a big cog. So, Stocker, Crabtree. Doesn't matter.
They have to settle on a left guard, looks like Gabe Carimi, since I think Carl Nicks will be out awhile.
And Da'Quan Bowers will make the team, but Schiano is clearly frustrated with him. They need a pass rush, Bowers is supposed to be the man, and he's not ready.
But we are. Bring on the season!
I'm Dave Wirth, and I'll see you at the game.
