Indianapolis, IN-- At the NFL Combine today, Bucs' head coach Greg Schiano reaffirmed that Josh Freeman is the Bucs' number-1 quarterback.
At the end of the regular season, Schiano said he's in favor of more competition at all positions... including quarterback. He said the team would bring in another quarterback next season, maybe more than one.
That created a mini-firestorm, together with Freeman approaching the final year of his contract in 2013, and not having signed a new contract.
"Josh Freeman is our quarterback," Schiano told reporters in Indianapolis. "And I believe with Josh Freeman, we'll be able to accomplish our goals... That's our belief, and our organization's belief... I've been busy, haven't had a chance to clean that up, but I'm glad I had an opportunity to today."
