Tampa Bay Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber
Tampa, Florida -- Ronde Barber's 200th consecutive start last Sunday earned him not only high praise, but the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week award. It's the tenth time the defensive back out of the University of Virginia has garnered the honor during his 16 seasons in the league.
Barber made five tackles, a sack and hauled in an interception in the Buccaneers week one victory over the Carolina Panthers.
The interception was Barber's 44th, adding to his mark as the leading pick off artist in Bucs history. Barber also added to his list of accomplishments by sacking Cam Newton in the first half, giving him more sacks than any cornerback in NFL history with 28. Those two accolades make him the only player ever to record at least 40 Interceptions and 25 sacks.
Barber's 10th NFC Defensive Player of the Week award, is the most ever for a Buccaneers player.
