St. Petersburg, Florida -- Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson is expected to miss the start of the 2014 season after undergoing elbow surgery.

Hellickson is expected to be out six to eight weeks, which would put him on track for a mid to late-May return.

The Rays have depth with starting pitchers.  Jake Odorizzi, Alex Colome or Enny Romero could all replace Hellickson in the rotation to accompany David Price, Matt Moore, Alex Cobb and Chris Archer.
