BJ Upton hits a single in the first inning of a game against the New York Mets. It would turn out to be the only hit the Rays would get all game.
Lakeland, FL-- This has turned into a very eventful off-season for the Upton Brothers, B.J. and Justin. And it's not over yet.
10 Sports caught up with the brothers, as they played in former Ray Matt Diaz' Charity Golf Tournament at the Grasslands.
Justin Upton's name has been mentioned in trade talks with the Rays, even though he has 3 years left on his contract with Arizona.
"Until something happens, or a trade happens, I try not to worry about it," said Justin. "I spend a lot of time down here with BJ, so it wouldn't be that big of a change... But I'll just sit back and see what happens."
Older brother B.J. is a free agent for the first time, and expects to draw a lot of interst from teams like the Phillies and the Nationals. The Rays offered him a qualifying figure, but B.J. turned it down... as did many other free agents.
"I've been through this before (wondering about his future). Not the free agency part of it," said B.J. "But I think I know what's going to happen... I'm ready for it... but I'll just sit back and see what happens in the next few weeks."
