PUNTA GORDA, Florida (WINK) - Tampa Bay Rays player Matt Bush was in court most of Thursday morning, in hopes of getting his bond reduced.
He was able to get it lowered from $1 million to $440,000. He must wear a GPS bracelet and alcohol monitoring device. Both of these will cost an estimated $600 a month.
If Bush is released, he will have to remain in Charlotte County, have a curfew imposed and will not be allowed to go to establishments where alcohol is served.
Bush's attorney said he cannot afford the terms of his bond and will most likely remain in jail.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Bush kept driving after hitting a motorcycle in March, seriously injuring 72-year-old Anthony Tufano. Bush faces multiple DUI-related charges and counts of leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving with a suspended license.
Prosecutors had argued against lowering Bush's bond, saying he could be a flight risk if he is released.
