Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers officially signed
forward Chris Copeland on Sunday.
Copeland averaged 8.7 points on 47.9 percent shooting (42.1 percent from 3-
point range) and 2.1 rebounds in 56 games with the New York Knicks last
"I'm excited to have Chris as part of the Pacers," said Larry Bird, Pacers
president of basketball operations. "He's a great addition to our team because
he's a guy that can come in off the bench and create his own shot or get into
the paint. He's a good guy and a great competitor and we're happy to have him
Before signing with the Knicks in 2012, Copeland played overseas with Okapi
Aalstar (Belgium), TBB Trier (Germany) and Torrons Vicens (Spain). He also
played one season in the NBA Developmental League.
"He gives us great versatility off our bench," said Pacers coach Frank Vogel.
"His story is a great story of perseverance and he reached a level where he
was a key player on a 54-win team last year."
