1 (18) - Eric Reid, S, LSU; 2 (40) - Tank Carradine, DE, Florida State; 2 (55) - Vance McDonald, TE, Rice; 3 (88) Corey Lemonier, DE/LB, Auburn; 4 (128) - Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech; 4 (131) - Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina; 5 (157) - Quinton Dial, DE, Alabama; 6 (180) - Nick Moody, OLB, Florida State; 7 (237) - B.J. Daniels, QB, South Florida; 7 (246) - Carter Bykowski, OT, Iowa State; 7 (252) - Marcus Cooper, CB, Rutgers

Top Picks Analysis: The rich keep getting richer as general manager Tom Baalke did a great job moving up and down the draft board to get contributors. Reid should be a nice replacement for the departed Dashon Goldson at safety. The LSU product is a big, physical player with far better movement skills than Goldson. Florida State's Carradine is a possible difference-maker on the edge if his ACL is healed and McDonald should step in for the departed Delanie Walker as Vernon Davis' backup at tight end. Lemonier, meanwhile, is another edge player who fits what San Francisco likes to do on defense.

Best Value Pick: Lattimore was a great investment for the future. If healthy he would have been regarded as the best back in the draft and the 49ers are talented enough to let him redshirt a year.

Questionable Calls: Lemonier is a physically gifted edge player whose on-field production never matched his athletic prowess. If he can be coached up and motivated, the Niners could get some mileage out of their investment as a situational player but you want more than that from a third-rounder.

Summary: The 49ers had a ton of picks coming in and did great work with their assets. They were able to replace Goldson with Reid, get the heir apparent for Walker in McDonald, add two edge pass rushers to the cupboard (Carradine and Lemonier), snare another receiver with upside for Colin Kaepernick (Patton), and steal the eventual successor to Frank Gore (Lattimore). Mission accomplished.

FINAL GRADE: A

Undrafted rookie free agent signings: Tennessee State C Sherman Carter; Stanford FB Alex Debniak; Minnesota QB/TE MarQueis Gray; Utah State WR Chuck Jacobs; Azusa Pacific OT Luke Marquardt; UCLA LS Kevin McDermott; Texas State CB Darryl Morris; Lawrence Okoye DL; Michigan OG Patrick Omameh
