Tampa, FL-- USF has begun its search for a new head football coach, as at least a dozen names are being mentioned.
Athletic Director Doug Woolard is leading the search.
ESPN College Football Insider Brett McMurphy told 10 News that Woolard likely has to make a decision, which direction to go in.
"He could go with former coaches who are trying to get back in the game, Tommy Bowden, Houston Nutt, and Ron Zook," said McMurphy. "He could go with current coaches like Sonny Dykes and Willie Taggart. And then there's another group who have USF ties... Dan McCarney and Mike Canales are at North Texas... Eric Woolford, head coach at Youngstown State."
McMurphy also said USF is still an attractive job, even though the Big East will lose it automatic qualifier status for a BCS bowl, in 2014.
