left in regulation to lift his UCLA Bruins to a 70-68 victory over the Oregon
Ducks in Pac-12 play at Matthew Knight Arena.
Jordan Adams netted 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to pace UCLA (17-4, 6-2
Pac-12). Norman Powell contributed 17 points and six rebounds, and Wear
finished with 12 points. The Bruins have won three games in a row.
Joseph Young scored a game-high 25 points and notched five steals for Oregon
(14-6, 2-6). Jason Calliste came off the bench to score 21 points, and Richard
Amardi contributed 13 in the loss. The Ducks have lost six of their last seven
The Bruins shot just 39.1 percent from the floor in the first half, and
trailed Oregon 36-32 at the intermission. The Ducks connected on 41.4 percent
of their field goal attempts in the frame.
UCLA picked it up in the second half, hitting an even 50 percent of its shots
from the floor, but went 1-of-6 from 3-point range. Oregon's shooting accuracy
dropped to 37.5 percent in the second period. The Ducks did connect on all 12
free-throw attempts in the half.
UCLA had the edge in points in the paint, 30-18, and in fast break points,
11-7. Oregon won the battle in bench points, 36-11.
