Davis, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jerry Evans Jr. scored 25 points, leading four
players in double figures, as the Nevada Wolf Pack survived an 87-81 overtime
affair against the UC Davis Aggies in non-conference action at the Pavilion.
Deonte Burton pitched in with 19 points, six assists and five boards for the
Wolf Pack (4-5) as they snapped a three-game slide. Ronnie Stevens and Cole
Huff both accounted for 13 points, the former pulling down a game-high nine
rebounds as well.
The Aggies (3-7) were paced by Corey Hawkins who erupted for 34 points on 12-
of-20 shooting from the floor as the team suffered a fifth straight setback.
Brynton Lemar contributed 16 points, Georgi Funtarov 13 off the bench and Iggy
Nujic 10 points before fouling out.
UC Davis led by as many as 11 points in the first half, the team shooting an
impressive 57.7 percent from the floor and 6-of-12 behind the 3-point line in
the period, but after 20 minutes of action the Aggies owned just a 37-34
In the second half Nevada took advantage of 15 opportunities at the free-throw
line, converting 11 chances, but it was a layup by Lemar with less than 10
seconds remaining in regulation that knotted the score at 74-74.
In the extra session Davis made just one field goal on five chances, compared
to the Pack which was 4-of-5, as the visitors pulled away for the win.
Featuring eight ties and 15 lead changes, the meeting saw Nevada come away
with a massive 42-24 rebounding advantage.
