New York, NY (Sports Network) - Denver Nuggets executive vice president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri was named the winner of the 2012-13 NBA Executive of the Year award on Thursday.

Ujiri strengthened Denver's roster in the offseason by acquiring Andre Iguodala from Philadelphia in a four-team, 12-player deal, while bringing back JaVale McGee and Andre Miller.

The Nuggets ended the 2012-13 season with a 57-25 mark, including a 38-3 record at home. Denver earned the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, but lost in six games to Golden State in the opening round of the playoffs.

Ujiri was named to his current position on Aug. 27, 2010. He worked for the Nuggets organization as a scout from 2003-07, and served as the team's director of international scouting during the 2006-07 season.

Denver's George Karl was named NBA coach of the year Wednesday, and last week Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried won the league's citizenship award.

Ujiri totaled 59 points and received eight first-place votes from a panel of his fellow team executives throughout the league. Los Angeles Clippers executive Gary Sacks finished second with 28 points and three first-place votes.
