Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Angels named Don Baylor, a member of the team's Hall of Fame, their new hitting coach on Wednesday.

Baylor has an extensive coaching background, including managerial stints with the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs. He recently completed his third season as the hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"Don enjoyed a distinguished playing career, highlighted by his tenure with the Angels during their first two division championships," general manager Jerry Dipoto said in a statement. "As a coach, he brings us tremendous expertise in the areas of hitting, communication and presence. It's nice to have him home."

Baylor, 64, spent six of his 19 years in the majors with the California Angels (1977-82) and captured the AL MVP in 1979 after batting .296 with 36 homers and 139 RBI.
