Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Ryan Zimmerman hit a three-run double to tie
the game and Ian Desmond drove in the winning run to lead the Washington
Nationals to a 6-4 win over the New York Mets in the opener of a three-game
Desmond also hit a solo home run while Kurt Suzuki added an RBI for the
Nationals, who have won three of four.
Ross Detwiler gave up three runs -- two earned -- on six hits over five
innings, while Tyler Clippard (6-1) earned the win for a scoreless inning of
Josh Satin went 3-for-3 with two RBI and David Wright had two hits and a run
scored for the Mets, who had won three of four coming in.
Matt Harvey tossed seven strong innings for the Mets, giving up just three
hits and a run while striking out 11. Bobby Parnell (5-4) was tagged with the
loss for giving up a pair of runs in the ninth inning.
