Rays' pitcher J.P. Howell has agreed to a 1-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to several reports, including one from ESPN.com

Howell came to Tampa Bay via trade in 2006, switched to the bullpen and was a key cog in the Rays' push to the American League championship in 2008.

He underwent surgery on his left shoulder in 2010, then returned to action late in the 2011 season.

The contract is reportedly worth just under $3 million, plus incentives.
