Tampa, FL-- Jesuit HS graduate Lance McCullers Jr, was much more upbeat 24 hours after the MLB First-Year Player Draft.  But he admitted a big factor in his decision, will be the Houston Astros' financial offer.

"It's a money game," McCullers said Tuesday.  "As much as I love to play the game, it is a business."

The son of former major league pitcher Lance McCullers Sr, said two other factors that will affect his decision is how the Astros treat young arms in the organization... and if they will pay for future schooling.  He already has a baseball scholarship waiting for him at the University of Florida.

And McCullers dismissed talk that the family advisor, famed super-agent Scott Boras, scared off teams from drafting him higher than 41st.

"If any team took the time to listen and show interest in me, they would know I wasn't an impossible sign," said the 6'2" right-hander.  "I was just asking teams to recognize that I'm one of the best pitchers in the country... That I have a strong commitment to Florida... And I'm not going to go out there and throw my education away for nothing."

McCullers said whatever decision he makes... pitching for the Houston Astros, or pitching for the University of Florida... he'll be happy with it.
