Augusta, GA (Sports Network) - John Peterson wrapped a long weekend at the Masters on Sunday with a disappointing 80, but it was still a historical four days for the Texan.

Peterson gained a spot in the Masters field thanks to a tie for fourth last year at the U.S. Open.

The historical part, Peterson is the first player from the Web.com Tour to play in the Masters. He has no status on the PGA Tour this year.

Peterson, who turns 24 this Thursday, has made the cut in his first four Web.com Tour starts this year, but his tie for 10th three weeks ago in Louisiana stands as his best finish of the year.

He dropped shots at the first, fourth and seventh, while stumbling to a double bogey on the par-4 fifth. Peterson managed a birdie at the eighth, but had another double bogey on No. 10.

Peterson dropped a shot at 14, then faltered to a third double bogey of the day, and fourth of the week, at the 15th. He bounced back with his seventh birdie of the week on No. 16. Peterson parred the last two for an 8-over 80.

He finished at 14-over 302 for the week, but has made the cut in both of his major championship starts.

Peterson is in his first full year on the Web.com Tour. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of former Web.com winners and major champions such as Shaun Micheel and David Toms.
