Vidya Balan attends local IIFA event, pumps up fans for film festival

Tampa, Florida -- The countdown to IIFA continued in Tampa at the Joe Chillura Courthouse Square where a Bollywood star greeted fans.

It was a day filled with fun festivities including Indian food, music and Bollywood Star Vidya Balan at the courthouse square on Friday. Things really heated up when Bollywood star Vidya Balan cheered on the crowd and asked, "We are going to make it the
best IIFA - right?"

Event organizers say the International Indian Film Academy event is expected to have 800 million people worldwide watching the awards. Many of those people are coming to Tampa to see the festival in person

Today's event got fans, both old and new, excited for what's coming in April.

Marty Champagne said, "I think its a big deal, big deal for Tampa - shows we have a diverse culture here and its not some backwards southern city.

India native and Tampa resident Aftab Lakhani added, "Amazing, never been to IIfa - first one - really excited about it!"

Before Vidya Balan said goodbye to the crowd she encouraging people to go get tickets, "A hug and a big kiss - you better be there, bring your family."

The next event will be April 23rd at the Curtis Hixon Park - a similar event to this will kick off the IIFA weekend.
