TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Senate is rolling out a sweeping gambling proposal that would allow the creation of two new casinos in South Florida and expand the use of slot machines across the state.

A Senate committee released the proposal on Monday.

The Senate is also proposing a constitutional amendment that would require a statewide vote before any additional expansion of gambling is authorized. It would not stop the new casinos, or the addition of slot machines at dog and horse tracks.

The measure would also create a new agency to regulate gambling.

It's unclear, however, if the Republican-controlled Legislature will pass the bills. Past efforts to authorize casinos have been defeated in the House.

An anti-casino group blasted the proposed bill and called it a "sell out" to gambling interests.
