(USA TODAY) KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia - Justin Reiter, the only American entered in parallel slalom, was disqualified after missing a gate on his first qualifying run on Saturday.

Judges did not alert Reiter that he had been disqualified until he had returned to the top of the course at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park to prepare to take his second run.

Reiter also failed to advance out of the qualifying runs in the parallel giant slalom on Wednesday because he was not among the 16 fastest riders.
