Holiday, Florida -- Shots rang out Monday inside a Pasco County chiropractor's office leaving one man in critical condition and the doctor who owns the office a person of interest.

Just before 11:00 a.m., witnesses reported gunshots being fired at the West Coast Spine and Injury Center on U.S. 19 in Holiday.

The 911 call came from across the street, where two Pasco deputies happen to be sitting. Quick to arrive, they found 34-year-old Jaime Velez shot multiple times.

The chiropractor who owns the business, 45-year-old Lenny Linardos, was quickly taken in for questioning.

"There were some words exchanged, and the shooting occurred," said Melanie Snow, spokesperson for the Pasco Sheriff's Office.

Detectives had not yet disclosed a motive, but 10 News has found a link between Velez and Linardos that reached beyond the doctor's office.

Last month, Velez posted a photo on his Facebook page, kissing the pregnant belly of his girlfriend Stacey Gillis.

Velez and Gillis work for the same property management office in nearby New Port Richey.

Along with the photo, Velez writes: "...Time 2 be a right man.... No more games, lies, & deceit.... Family first."

The post gives the impression Velez is the father, and for the next two days Facebook friends comment with congratulations.

For a month, there are no further comments.

But the latest entry, which was posted just before 6:00 this morning, reads "Haha you just lied."

The author of that post was chiropractor Lenny Linardos.

Five hours later, Velez is in Linardos's office shot multiple times.

"It's very surprising, shocking," said Robert Anderson, a friend who works nearby.

Anderson says he's known Linardos 15 years.

"He's always been clam, collected. A voice of reason," he said.

Two female clinic employees spent hours sitting outside the chiropractor's office as investigators combed the building and parking lot for clues.

They didn't see the shooting, they say, but heard the shots.

Both men's cars were towed from the scene.
