ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Veterans Affairs officials have told U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson that they're ready to break ground on a national simulation center to train doctors and nurses in the latest procedures for veterans' illnesses and injuries.

Nelson's office said in a statement that the $20 million facility would be near the Orlando VA Medical Center, which is currently three years behind in opening. It will provide medical professionals anywhere in the world with access to research and training

The senator has been told that the new center is set to begin construction in April, with completion in 15 months. It will provide medical professionals anywhere in the world with access to research and training.

Nelson is a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which sought funding for new project.
