Polk County, Florida -- Two people have been arrested for growing and selling marijuana, and not providing animals with proper care.

Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives made contact with the residents who owned a barn on Frostproof Road. Detectives met Luis Delgada and Noelia Ramirez and through their investigation also found two rooms in the barn that were being used to grow cannabis.

One of the rooms had been just harvested while the other room had 37 immature cannabis plants growing inside. Detectives also discovered high intensity grow lights and grow light hoods, electric ballasts, air conditioners, air filters, plastic pots used for cannabis cultivation and cannabis plant stalks and roots.

In addition to the plants, detectives discovered 15 pounds of harvested cannabis buds, a rifle, and two 357 magnum handguns. Detectives also discovered 10 dogs, nine of which had no tags or proof of rabies vaccinations.

Delgada and Ramirez were placed under arrest and the property and care of the animals was turned over to a family member who was instructed on how to improve the animals' care.

Both Delgada and Ramirez were charged with Cultivation of Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sale, Possession of Cannabis - over 20 grams, Maintaining Structure for Drug Manufacturing, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

In addition, Delgado was cited for not having the dogs properly licensed and rabies vaccinated and for not providing one dog with adequate shelter. Delgado was given 30 days to improve the health of the animals.

Delgada and Ramirez were both booked into the Polk County Jail.
