In Manatee County, 30 polling sites are going away, because the county says they're not handicapped accessible.
Instead, the county plans to open five polling locations in larger, more accessible areas in addition to three "early voting" locations.
But some of the 207,000 voters in Manatee County are not happy about the changes.
"It's going the opposite direction!" said resident James Canfield during a public meeting in front of the Board of County Commissioners. "If one precinct doesn't have a lot of voters, your reaction is to close the precinct? Shouldn't your reaction be [to] find those people that didn't show up and encourage them to come, to participate? We have got to engage our public."
The county says the restructured polling sites will be more efficient and accessible. They're also urging residents to participate in early voting, and use mail-in ballots.
