St. Petersburg, Florida - Derrick Brooks was the heart in the middle of the Buccaneers Super Bowl winning defense, but only his head will be portrayed on a bust in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This evening, Brooks was voted into football's most elite fraternity as a member of the 2014 class.
The legendary linebacker for the Buccaneers announced it on Twitter. "Thought of Tonight is JOY, HUMILITY, and gratefulness, I'm in the Hall of Fame Now."
The Tampa Bay first round pick out of Florida State in 1995 will join fellow draft classmate Warren Sapp in Canton. During his time in the NFL, Brooks was named to nine All-Pro teams, the 2000 All-Decade Team, and the 2002 AP Defensive Player of the Year.
Brooks marks the third Buccaneer to enter the hall, and the third from the defensive side of the ball.
