TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- A special election has been scheduled to fill former U.S. Rep. Trey Radel's seat after he resigned earlier this week after pleading guilty to cocaine possession.

On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott issued an executive order Friday that a special primary election would be held on April 22, 2014. A special general election would be held on June 24, 2014.

Former state Rep. Paige Kreegel declared his candidacy on Jan. 29 to replace Radel and state Senate Majority Leader Lizbeth Benacquisto is considering a bid.
