Lanier Elementary and Monroe Middle Schools on lockdown after suspicious person spotted

UPDATE: The lockdowns have been lifted.

Earlier Report:

Tampa, Florida -- Two schools are on lockdown after a teacher at Lanier Elementary spotted a man on campus she did not recognize.

She alerted the school office, which in turn called police.

As a precaution, Lanier was placed on lockdown, as was nearby Monroe Middle School.

Classes had already dismissed for the day at Lanier Elementary, but about 40 to 50 children were still on campus for after-school programs.
