Tampa, Florida -- A violent gunman has already robbed half a dozen people in one part of Tampa, and now police are saying if you live, work or drive through that area you need to be on alert in case he strikes again.

Investigators say on Wednesday, Jan. 15 around 7 p.m. the man carjacked a woman leaving City Pawn on East Hillsborough Avenue. They say she was in her car when the suspect approached her with a black semi-automatic pistol, forcing her to move over into the passenger seat of her vehicle.

He threatened her and robbed her before driving her around for an hour. He stopped at North 46th Street and East Hillsborough Avenue and got out of the car headed south on 46th Street.

Detectives say shortly after the carjacking, he held up the Dunkin' Donuts nearby at 3512 East Hillsborough Avenue.

A security camera catches images of the suspect as he appears to smile as he casually steps inside the 24-hour store. He orders a donut but instead of pulling out his wallet to pay, you see him whip out a handgun, leap over the counter and point the gun at workers who start to scramble.

Detective Jason Brocato of the Tampa Police Department explains what happened after the gunman swiped the money.

"He puts the employees into the bathroom, makes them take off their clothes, takes the cell phone batteries out of their cell phones."

Regular customers stopping by the donut shop on Friday afternoon were stunned. Olga didn't want to give her last name since the suspect has not been arrested. She says the workers at the store are nice and provide good customer service.

"They don't deserve nothing like that. I recommend this place to a lot of people and at the same time I don't appreciate people doing stuff like that... but at the same time God is going to catch them."

Five days later around 6 p.m. police say the same gunman robbed the Comfort 4 Less furniture store at 10407 North Nebraska Avenue. They say the suspect entered the business and demanded money at gunpoint.

10 News spoke with the woman who works at the store who was robbed. She did not want to talk on camera, but police say she gave the suspect money from her purse.

Detectives say if you see the gunman, do not confront him. They urge you to call 911 instead.
