Video: Hernando county restaurant burns down overnight

Brooksville, FL-- Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to a commercial fire at Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant located at 6244 Spring Lake Hwy Friday morning.

It happened around 3am.  Crews worked hard salvage what they could but the Restaurant is a complete loss.

Countless memories have been created at Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant.  Families have been dining at Papa Joe's for more than 30 years.

Owners Joseph and Donna Giarratana got that dreaded phone call that no business owner ever wants to get.

"You just say, it's not me, it's not me and you drive down here fast enough to see the thing was on blaze," said Joseph Giarratana.

Sky 10 flew over the scene of Papa Joe's after the damage was done.  No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.

"There are some wonderful people that have been with us for the whole years 15, 20 years, 30 years," said Donna Giarratana.  "So we're just worried about that, that's the big thing, to make sure they don't suffer from this."

The emotional owners are trying to stay positive and admitted that this will not be the end of Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant, instead more like a new beginning.

"We want to go rebuilding and make it bigger and better," said Joseph Giarratana.

Papa Joe's also known for catering.  The owner shared with 10 news that all of the records have been destroyed.  If you have an existing order please contact the owners at 352-585-7557.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
