Hernando County, Florida -- A Hernando County Deputy has been terminated after burning a child with a hair dryer.

Deputy Cody Marrone was arrested on January 17, after burning a 3-year-old boy with a hair dryer because the child would not let him sleep.

SHeriff Al Nienhuis lamented this incident hire and added, "I completely understand the public's anger and frustration regarding this case. I have three daughters myself and cannot fathom how this could occur or what the child's family must be feeling. It is especially frustrating when one of our employees does something like this, because I know that before we even consider a person for employment, we do a background that is very difficult to pass."

This child was burned several times with the hair dryer, causing severe injuries.
