Lakeland, Florida -- The Lakeland Police Department is looking for a man who has attacked and shot multiple people in the North Iowa area in Lakeland.
The incidents began on January 19, after Willie Williams and his cousin got in a fight at the Elks Lodge on Texas Avenue. William's accidentally stepped on the suspect, later identified as Sylvester Smith, Jr., and the fight moved outside. Smith walked away from the fight briefly and returned with a gun, shooting Williams five times. Williams is now in critical condition.
An innocent bystander at the Elks Lodge, Gregory Burgess, was shot once in the lower leg, possible by a bullet that exited Williams. Burgess drove himself to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Victim three, Danielle Kirkland, was hit once in the face with the handgun knocking him to the ground.
Smith should be
considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information on his whereabouts
