Largo, Florida -- Both Largo and Treasure Island leaders tonight endorsed the Greenlight Pinellas plan, which calls for improving the county's transit system.
The plan includes adding light rail from St. Petersburg to Clearwater.
The opposition, No Tax For Tracks, launched its counterattack tonight in Largo, saying the community shouldn't have to pick up the tab for light rail, and funding should go toward making the current bus system more efficient.
While some say it'd be an economic boom, rail opponents say the public shouldn't have to bail out the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA).
The next step will be for voters to decide on the November ballot.
