Tampa, FL - A man was shot by police after they say he waved a gun at officers. It happened on Peninsular Street in the Riverside Heights neighborhood.
Just before 4 a.m., the Tampa Police Department received a call from someone saying they had concerns that a family member might be suicidal at 902 W. Peninsular Street.
When officers arrived on scene they found Jason Turk in a parked vehicle in the driveway.
Officers attempted to talk with Turk and get him to exit the vehicle. Turk then rolled down the window and showed a gun. This is when one officer fired his weapon. The officers again tried to talk to Turk. He again showed the weapon and another officer fired again.
Jason Turk taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and is currently in surgery.
No officers were hurt.
