Walpole, MA (CBS News) -- Scary moments came for a gas station attendant in Massachusetts when an elderly man mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal, and almost ran him over.

The surveillance video shows the attendant in bright clothing standing next to the pump when the driver lost control of the car.

The attendant was hit and thrown 30 feet away. He knocked over the pump, and a fire started.

Another attendant used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. The attendant is expected to fully recover.

As for the 83-year-old driver, he says the incident was all a terrible accident, and he's rethinking keeping his driver's license.
