Train hits teenager in Highlands County

Highlands County, Florida -- A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by a train while trying to out run it.

The Highlands County Sheriff's Office says the teen tried to run in front of the train at the intersection of the railroad tracks and Main Street in Avon Park.

Deputies say he tripped and was hit by the train.

The teen reportedly suffered a broken pelvis, and he injured his leg.
