Lakeland, Florida -- A Department of Children and Families investigator has been arrested for sexually battering a woman whose case he was working, police said Thursday.
"When she was giving her statement she was very shaken. You can obviously see that she was traumatized," said Sgt. Gary B. Gross with the Lakeland Police Dept
According to reports, Jason Montgomery, 27, sexually battered the same victim on two separate occasions between August 2012 and January 2013.
During the first incident, Montgomery was reportedly at the victim's home working a case assignment involving her son. The victim says things turned when her kids arrived home from school and Montgomery told them to leave.
"During that time her children left and when they left the residence he ended up sexually battering here," said Sgt. Gross.
That's when Montgomery told her that she "needed" to have sex with him, she told officials. And when she said no, he allegedly said, "Well then I am going to be forced to do what I have to do."
The victim says she felt helpless because of his authority, so she gave in without resisting.
"A couple weeks go by he comes back. They have some contact (and) he ends up sexually battering her again," Sgt. Gross said.
Montgomery told her, "You owe me for getting you out of trouble,"- that's according to the victim's statement in the arrest affidavit.
Violent Crimes Detectives spoke with Montgomery about the allegations.
"He denied any personal or professional contact with this female whatsoever. Of course we know that's not true because the DNA that came back was found inside the residence," said Sgt. Gross.
Montgomery was arrested Thursday for two counts of sexual battery and has since been booked at the Polk County Jail.
Officials say Montgomery has been with the Department of Children and Families for two years this past October, though he was removed from client contact in September for a separate issue. DCF says he was under investigation for accessing privileged information within the organization.
Two weeks ago, he handed in a letter of resignation from the organization.
