Sarasota, Florida -- Thanks to a generous grant from the West Coast Inland Navigation District, the Sarasota Police Department was able to purchase a new 34-foot Yellowfin center console boat.

The boat, which was purchased in September 2013, will be used to enhance and protect the waterways of Sarasota County.

Marine Patrol Officer Bruce King says, "This is another way to protect the visitors and residents of the City of Sarasota. We live in paradise and so many of us take advantage of the beautiful beaches here, we want to make sure the level of protection people expect from our officers on the street is the same on the water."
