St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg Police are asking for the public's help identifying the man who flooded the stairwell of a downtown building in the early morning hours of Nov. 12.

On Nov. 12, at 1:00 a.m., a man entered the stairwell from the Vue 19 Club located on the 19th floor of One Progress Plaza at 200 Central Avenue, then climbed to the 27th floor.

For unknown reasons, the suspect opened the building's fire system stand pipe covers and valves releasing water into the stairwell. He opened the valves from the 27th floor down to the second floor causing about $5,000 worth of damage to the fire system equipment and other flood damage to floors 23 and three.

Detectives are releasing a surveillance video of the man in the hope that someone will recognize him. The video only shows the man exiting the 2nd floor stairwell door at 1:25 a.m.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid-20's, 6 feet tall, dirty blond hair, and wearing a long-sleeved shirt and dark pants at the time of the vandalism.

If anyone knows the identity of the suspect, they are asked to call Det. Daniel Cruz at 727-893-4964, or the Communications Center at 727-893-7780.
