Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough County officials are inviting the public to attend the dedication ceremony of a new memorial commemorating the service of Iraq veterans.
The ceremony will honor military veterans from Florida who sacrificed their lives in Iraq from March 2003 to December 2011.
Guest speakers include Lt. Gen. John Mulholland (SOCOM), CSM Frank Grippe (CENTCOM) and a representative from American Gold Star Mothers Tampa Bay Chapter. An official proclamation from Hillsborough County will be presented and singer Jason Wyatt will perform a musical selection.
The public is encouraged to arrive early due to limited parking. The ceremony unveiling the new memorial will be held at 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. Highway 301 N in Tampa. A motorcycle procession will begin at 2 p.m.
The event will conclude with the playing of Taps and a rifle salute by the Riverview Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Refreshments will also be provided.
