Brandon, Florida -- Two women ordering food from a Waffle House and were shot at by a man they did not know.
Around one in the morning on November 9, Matthew Laine was eating dinner at the Waffle House on Lumsden Road. At the same time, Briana Reddick, Princess Benoit and two other friends arrived at the Waffle House to pick up food.
While the two friends went inside to place their order, Reddick and Benoit waited in the car. Reportedly, Laine then exited the restaurant and fired 15 rounds into the car.
Reddick was struck in the right leg, just above her knee and in her right arm. Reddick was transported to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition. Benoit sustained multiple cuts to both of her legs as a result of the broken glass.
Laine fled the scene, was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident.
According to reports, it does not appear Laine personally knew either victim. Additionally, there is no evidence to suggest there was any type of altercation preceding the incident.
